Writing opportunities include, but are not limited to:
Traditional news articles Feature stories Community news Event previews and coverage Coverage of government meetings Business news Arts and entertainment articles History pieces Attributes we're looking for in contributing writers include:
Strong writing skills Ability to produce clean copy that requires only minor edits Attention to detail A high level of accuracy Ability to write a variety of articles or specialize in one area, such as coverage of government meetings Strong ability to present information in informative and engaging ways Skills in interviewing sources Adherence to deadlines Photography and video skills are major pluses Our writers work primarily from home but must be located within reasonable driving distance from our coverage area to be able to cover stories in person.
Writing samples are required to apply, preferably recent news articles, but other samples that show strong skills in the written word will be accepted.
If preferred, we can assign a paid story to allow you to demonstrate your current skills.
